Feedback from clients

Hi, I'm Natalie

Portrait photographer helping women feel confident and seen

Almost every woman I photograph arrives with the same worry: "I don't know how to pose," or "I'll book when I feel more confident." I understand how vulnerable it can feel to step in front of a camera. You don't have to bring confidence with you - we'll build it together, one frame at a time.

After more than 10 years and 1,000 photo sessions, I know a powerful portrait isn't about looking perfect. It's about recognizing something honest in yourself - your softness, your strength, your personality. Every image is carefully edited and subtly retouched, without removing what makes you look like you.

We can photograph you anywhere that feels like you, from a corner of downtown Vancouver to your own neighbourhood. Around Langley, I love the greenhouse at Sendall Gardens and the open fields of Campbell Valley - we'll pick what fits the feeling you want.

Why book a portrait session for yourself?

Most women have hundreds of photos of the people they love and very few of themselves that they genuinely like. A portrait session gives you space to step into the frame on purpose - not to become someone different, but because the woman you are now is worth remembering.

To see yourself with fresh eyes

Many women come to me convinced they aren't photogenic. Usually, they've simply never been photographed with good light, patient direction, and a session built entirely around them.

You won't be left to find your own angles or wonder what to do with your hands. With gentle guidance from start to finish, we'll create portraits that feel natural - and may help you see yourself with a little more kindness.

To celebrate the chapter you're living now

A milestone birthday, a fresh start, a new home, or simply a season when you're finally putting yourself first - a portrait session can mark any of them. They can also be for no occasion at all.

You don't need to wait until you feel more confident or reach some imagined "better" version of yourself. The life you're living today is already worth documenting.

To create photographs that genuinely feel like you

Your portraits should reflect your personality - soft and romantic among flowers, relaxed and natural in an open field, polished and minimal in a studio, or something else entirely.

We'll shape the wardrobe, setting, and creative direction around you, so the final gallery feels elevated while still looking honestly like you.

Photo session FAQs

What if I'm not photogenic or don't know how to pose?

"Not photogenic" usually just means no one has ever directed you in front of a camera. You don't need any modelling experience - I'll guide your posture, hands, angles and expressions throughout, adjusting as we go until it all feels natural.

Can I bring multiple outfits for different looks?

Please do - changing outfits is one of the easiest ways to get real variety from one session. The Portrait Classic gives us time for two to three looks and the Portrait Signature for four to six. Bring a few options and we'll choose together; my client wardrobe is yours to borrow from at no extra cost.

Can you help me decide on the style and feel of my portraits?

Of course - that's part of planning together. Before the session we'll talk about how you want to feel in your photos: soft and romantic, bold and editorial, or relaxed and natural. I'll share examples, suggest a setting and colours to match, and make sure your outfits tie it all together.

When will my portraits be ready, and how many will there be?

Within 12 business days, in a private online gallery you can download and share from. The Portrait Classic brings you at least 25 studio or 45 outdoor images, and the Portrait Signature at least 35 studio or 75 outdoor - each one edited by hand and included in your package.

Is professional hair and makeup worth it for a portrait session?

Many clients find it's the simplest way to feel ready the moment they arrive, and it holds up beautifully in close-ups. It's arranged separately from the session: I'll introduce you to artists I trust, and we'll plan your look to suit your outfits and the setting. If you'd rather do your own, that works just as well.

What if the weather turns, or I need to change my date?

I'll check the forecast with you a day or two ahead. Soft cloud is flattering for portraits, so grey skies are no problem; if real rain sets in, we'll move to a booked studio or choose another day. And if something comes up on your side, message me as soon as you know and we'll work out a new date.

How is a portrait session different from a professional headshot?

A headshot does one job well: it shows you as approachable and professional for your website, LinkedIn or company profile, usually head and shoulders against a simple background. A portrait session takes more time and tells more of your story - different outfits, settings and moods, from close-ups to full-length images. Need something for work?
