Kind words & heartfelt notes
Hi, I'm Natalie
I've spent more than 10 years photographing families across Langley, Walnut Grove, the Fraser Valley and Greater Vancouver, and every family brings its own rhythm. Some children need time to warm up; others arrive ready to explore and lead the way. You don't need to worry about perfect behaviour or getting everyone to smile at once - that's my job.
After more than 1,000 photo sessions, I know how to give just enough direction for everyone to feel comfortable without making it stiff. I use movement, simple prompts and play to create natural moments, and make sure we also get the family portraits you'll want to frame.
Whether you're bringing little ones, teenagers, grandparents, or the whole extended family together for a reunion or a birthday, I'll make the session feel calm, enjoyable and true to the people you love.
We'll choose together by your children's ages, the season and the feel you're after, from the parks I use most for photography around Langley.

Langley Twp
Open fields, a heritage barn and river views - beautiful in fall. Some areas have stairs, but we can stay close to the parking.

Langley Twp
A lake, picnic areas and tall grass by the South Valley entrance. Big enough that it rarely feels crowded.

South Surrey
Coastal grass and wide evening light, a 5-7 minute walk from the lot. Wear sturdy shoes - it can be muddy with the tide.

South Surrey
Heritage buildings, an apple grove and seasonal haystacks - plenty of parking and easy to get around.

Fort Langley
A rustic cottage interior, a front yard and soft natural light.

Pitt Meadows
Styled interiors, paper backdrops and several set-ups in one space.
Or another studio you have in mind
Tell me the feel you're after - bright and airy, warm and rustic, clean and minimal - and I'll find one that suits your session.
Somewhere else in mind? Anywhere in Greater Vancouver works - just tell me where.
You don't need to wait for a big milestone. Often the most meaningful time for family photos is simply now - while your children still reach for your hand and laugh with their whole bodies.

Family life changes quietly. Favourite toys disappear, little hands grow, and today's routines become tomorrow's memories. A family session keeps this chapter as it really feels - the connection, the energy and the small in-between moments.
Your photos don't need a perfectly planned occasion. They can celebrate slow weekend mornings, siblings who make each other laugh, or an evening in the fields near home.

In many families one person is always behind the camera. Your phone may be full of your children, but very few photos show you there with them.
A family session makes room for everyone - including grandparents, grown children and relatives who aren't often together. Extended-family sessions and small celebrations, from a birthday to a family reunion, are always welcome.

Families book to welcome a new baby, mark a birthday or anniversary, or photograph several generations together. Others book because the kids have changed since last time.
The right time is whenever you want to remember your family as you are today.
All over. I photograph families throughout Greater Vancouver, and around Langley I love the riverside at Derby Reach, the trails of Campbell Valley and the orchard at Historic Stewart Farm, with Mud Bay in South Surrey a short drive away. The only travel fee is $20, for West Vancouver, Richmond, UBC and Spanish Banks.
Absolutely. A family session can be adult siblings at a reunion, a couple with their grown children, or two people and their dog - whoever your family is. We'll plan the poses and groupings around you, so the photos feel natural rather than staged.
Yes, pets are part of the family too. Bring a leash, a few treats and a favourite toy, and if someone can take them home partway through, we can photograph both with and without them. Let me know they're coming, so we choose a location where pets are welcome.
Yes, and photos with several generations are some of the most meaningful you'll ever have. Your immediate family is included in the package price; an extended-family session covers up to six people, and each additional person is $25. Tell me how many are coming, and I'll plan the groupings - each household, the grandparents with all the grandchildren, and one big photo of everyone - so nothing feels rushed.
Keep it light. Tell them you're going to the park to play with a photographer, make sure they've eaten and rested, and pack a snack and a small favourite toy. There's no need to practise smiles - I'd rather they arrive curious and relaxed, and I'll take care of the rest.
Yes. Tell me what's needed when you get in touch, and I'll suggest a location with easy parking, level paths and somewhere to sit - or a studio. I'll keep the walking short and plan poses that are comfortable for everyone, grandparents included.
I check the hourly forecast and usually make the final call a day or two before. Light cloud is actually flattering, so a grey day can work beautifully; if it's going to be properly wet, we'll choose a new date together.
Yes - gift certificates are available, digital or printed, and can be customized for the family you're giving them to. They make a thoughtful present for new parents, grandparents or a family reunion.
