Feedback from clients

Hi, I'm Natalie

Maternity photographer, and a mother who's been there

Pregnancy can feel beautiful, powerful, unfamiliar and exhausting - sometimes all in the same day. As a mother of two, I know this stage personally. You don't need to arrive feeling perfectly confident or knowing what to do in front of the camera. I'll guide you through it.

Before your session, I'll help you choose a setting that feels like you. We can go anywhere - a beach, a forest trail, a quiet street in the city. Around Langley, two of my favourites are the meadows of Campbell Valley and the orchard at Historic Stewart Farm, and a studio works beautifully if you'd like a softer, more polished look. We'll plan your wardrobe and the mood together, so you never have to wonder what to wear or where to go.

After more than 10 years and 1,000 photo sessions, I've learned that the most meaningful maternity portraits come from making space for you to feel comfortable, seen, and like yourself.

Why book a maternity photo session?

Pregnancy can feel slow while you're living it and surprisingly brief once it's over. A maternity session gives you time to step away from the planning and appointments and keep this chapter - the anticipation, the connection, and the change.

To remember yourself in this season

Your body is changing as it makes room for someone new, and it's normal not to feel camera-ready every day. Maternity portraits aren't about pretending everything feels effortless - they honour your strength, softness and individuality exactly as they are now.

With gentle direction and thoughtful posing, we'll create photographs that help you see yourself with a little more kindness.

To celebrate the connection before your baby arrives

Your session can focus entirely on you, or include your partner, your children, even your dog. The way they hold you and look at you may feel ordinary now, but these quiet gestures become part of the story.

Photographing this together preserves more than how you looked - it keeps the closeness and anticipation surrounding your baby before you finally meet.

To create the first chapter of your baby's story

Long before your child can remember this time, your maternity photos can show them how deeply they were anticipated.

Outdoors or in a studio, the portraits we make together will feel personal, natural, and true to you.

Photo session FAQs

When during pregnancy should we schedule the photos?

Somewhere between 27 and 32 weeks usually works best - your bump is clearly showing, and you're likely still comfortable moving around. It's only a guideline, though: we can go a little earlier if you're expecting twins or simply prefer to.

How far in advance should I book?

Ideally, get in touch during your second trimester, around 20 weeks. That leaves time to plan your outfits and location and to hold a date in the 27-32 week window. If you're already further along, please still ask - I'll do my best to find a date soon.

Do you only photograph in Langley, or can you come to Vancouver too?

Both. I photograph maternity sessions all over Greater Vancouver. Around Langley, I love the meadows of Campbell Valley Park, the orchard at Historic Stewart Farm and the gardens at Sendall, and Vancouver adds beaches and city streets. A $20 travel fee applies only to West Vancouver, Richmond, UBC and Spanish Banks.

Can you help me choose a location and style for my session?

Yes - that's part of every session. We'll talk about the feeling you want, whether soft and romantic, earthy and natural or clean and modern, and I'll suggest settings, colours and outfits that suit it and the season. You'll arrive knowing exactly what to expect.

Do you have maternity dresses or outfits I can borrow?

Yes. My client closet has pieces chosen to photograph beautifully, and you can borrow from it for free. We'll pick them together before your session, so they suit your style and the setting.

Can we create both casual and more styled maternity portraits?

Absolutely - many of my favourite galleries have both. We might begin in jeans and a soft knit for relaxed, everyday moments, then change into a flowing gown for something more elegant. With the Maternity Signature's two hours and up to five outfits, there's plenty of room for variety.

Can my partner, kids, or even our dog be in the photos?

Yes, everyone's welcome. Some of the sweetest moments happen when a partner's hand rests on your bump or an older sibling leans in to listen. We'll still make time for portraits of just you - tell me who's joining, and I'll plan around them.

How many photos will we get, and how soon?

With the Maternity Classic, you'll receive at least 25 edited images from a studio session or 45 from outdoors; with the Signature, at least 40 or 80. Every image is edited with subtle retouching and delivered in a private online gallery within 12 business days - no separate purchase needed.
