Feedback from clients

Hi, I'm Natalie

Portrait photographer helping women feel confident and seen

Almost every woman I photograph arrives with the same worry: "I don't know how to pose," or "I'll book when I feel more confident." I understand how vulnerable it can feel to step in front of a camera. You don't have to bring confidence with you - we'll build it together, one frame at a time.

After more than 10 years and 1,000 photo sessions, I know a powerful portrait isn't about looking perfect. It's about recognizing something honest in yourself - your softness, your strength, your personality. Every image is carefully edited and subtly retouched, without removing what makes you look like you.

We can photograph you anywhere that feels like you, from a corner of downtown Vancouver to your own neighbourhood. Around Coquitlam and the Tri-Cities, I love the deep-green trails of Mundy Park and the pier at Rocky Point in Port Moody - we'll pick what fits the feeling you want.

More About Natalie

Outdoors or in a studio?

Soft and natural, or clean and polished - a few favourites near the Tri-Cities, where I do most of my photography in Coquitlam.

  • Professional portrait photography, woman in a floral dress leaning on a rock by a pond

    Mundy Park

    Coquitlam

Tall cedars and quiet forest trails - that deep-green Pacific Northwest feel, soft and intimate.

    Rocky Point Park

    Port Moody

  • Creative portrait photography in tall golden grass, woman in a hat and fringed jacket

    Minnekhada Park

    Coquitlam

Marshland boardwalks, rocky knolls and wide, wild views for a more dramatic look.

  • Intimate portrait photography, a woman in a flowing white robe looks back over her shoulder on a curving pebble beach

    Barnet Marine Park

    Burnaby

A pebble shoreline and old pier posts; at low tide the shoreline structures form arch-like backdrops.

Why book a portrait session for yourself?

Most women have hundreds of photos of the people they love and very few of themselves that they genuinely like. A portrait session gives you space to step into the frame on purpose - not to become someone different, but because the woman you are now is worth remembering.

To see yourself with fresh eyes

Many women come to me convinced they aren't photogenic. Usually, they've simply never been photographed with good light, patient direction, and a session built entirely around them.

You won't be left to find your own angles or wonder what to do with your hands. With gentle guidance from start to finish, we'll create portraits that feel natural - and may help you see yourself with a little more kindness.

To celebrate the chapter you're living now

A birthday, a career change, a new home, or a moment when you're finally doing something just for yourself - portraits can mark any of them. They can also be for no occasion at all.

You don't need to wait until you feel more confident or reach some imagined "better" version of yourself. The life you're living today is already worth documenting.

To create photographs that genuinely feel like you

Your portraits should reflect your personality - soft and quiet among the cedars, warm and windswept by the water, polished and minimal in a studio, or something else entirely.

We'll shape the wardrobe, setting, and creative direction around you, so the final gallery feels elevated while still looking honestly like you.

Photo session FAQs

I'm not comfortable in front of the camera. Is a portrait session still for me?

Absolutely - most of the women I photograph tell me exactly that when they first get in touch. Before your session we'll talk about what makes you uneasy, and on the day I guide every pose, angle and expression, so you're never left to figure it out alone. The nerves usually fade much sooner than you expect.

What should I wear, and can you help me choose outfits?

Yes - we'll plan your outfits together around your style, the setting and the mood you want. You're welcome to borrow from my client wardrobe at no extra cost. The Portrait Classic has room for two to three looks; the Portrait Signature, four to six.

How many photos will I receive, and when?

The Portrait Classic includes at least 25 edited studio images or 45 outdoor images; the Portrait Signature, at least 35 studio or 75 outdoor. Your private online gallery arrives within 12 business days, and every listed image is included - nothing extra to buy.

Should I have my hair and makeup professionally done?

It isn't required, but many clients love the extra polish - and it's a lovely way to start the day feeling looked after. Hair and makeup aren't part of the session: I can recommend artists I work with regularly, you book them directly, and we'll plan the look around your outfits.

Do you offer studio and outdoor portrait sessions?

Yes, both. Outdoors gives you natural light and movement - forest trails, beaches, gardens or city streets around Greater Vancouver. A studio, booked and prepared for your session, offers privacy and a clean, polished look; rental is additional and starts at $50 per hour. And if there's another place that means something to you, we can plan your session there.

What happens if I need to reschedule or it rains on the day?

Plans change, and that's okay - let me know as early as you can and we'll find a new date together. As for the weather, I watch the forecast and we'll make the call a day or two before: a new date, or a studio booked for your session.

What's the difference between a portrait session and a professional headshot session?

A portrait session is about you as a person - your personality and style, a few outfits and settings, and a full gallery of images that feel personal. A headshot session is shorter and focused: clean, consistent images for LinkedIn, your website or your team. If that's what you need, take a look at my corporate headshot sessions.
