Feedback from clients

Hi, I'm Natalie

Newborn photographer, and a mother who remembers this blur

As a mom of two, I understand how surreal life becomes after a baby arrives. The days are full, sleep is scarce, and precious moments slip by in an instant. During your newborn session, there's no pressure to be perfectly ready.

Whether you're in Coquitlam, Port Moody or Port Coquitlam, we'll decide together whether your own home or a studio suits you best - most families choose home - pick comfy outfits, and focus on what matters most. I'll guide you gently while making sure there's always time to feed, change and cuddle your little one - awake or sleepy.

With over 10 years and 1,000+ sessions behind me, I've learned that the simplest photographs often become the most treasured: a tiny hand around a finger, a loving gaze, an older sibling leaning in close.

More About Natalie

Where your newborn session happens

Usually at home - the easiest place for a new baby. Or a studio booked and prepared for you, whether that's close to home in Coquitlam and the Tri-Cities or anywhere else in Greater Vancouver.

    Most newborn sessions

    In your home

Anywhere in the Tri-Cities or Greater Vancouver, where travel and light allow. Your home doesn't need to look perfect - one or two spots with good window light are enough, and your baby stays somewhere familiar between feeds.

    Prepared before you arrive

    A booked studio

A calm, uncluttered space with soft, controlled light, set up before you arrive. Peach Pitt Studio in Pitt Meadows is a favourite for newborns, or we can book the studio closest to you anywhere in Greater Vancouver.

Why book a newborn photo session?

Right now your world may be measured in feeds, naps and hours of sleep. Newborn photographs give you something the blur can't: a way to return to the details, the closeness, and the family you became when this baby arrived.

To remember how small they really were

One day it will be hard to believe your baby ever fit so completely in your arms. The curled legs will stretch and the tiny fingers will open, almost before you notice.

A newborn session preserves that scale in a way memory can't: the soft hair, sleepy expressions, wrinkled toes, and the way your hand once covered almost their whole back.

To see the love surrounding your baby

You're becoming a parent, or parents together, or learning how your family works with one more person in it. Older children are becoming siblings.

These photographs keep the way you looked at your baby before it became familiar, the careful way you held them, and the pride in a sibling's face. You deserve to be in this part of the story, not only behind the camera.

To give your child a place in their own beginning

Your baby won't remember these days, but one day they may want to see them - how small they were, where they felt safe, and who couldn't stop looking at them.

Over time, newborn portraits become part of your child's own history, and part of the story your family tells about the moment everything changed.

Photo session FAQs

When is the best time to photograph our newborn?

Many families choose the first two or three weeks, while babies are still curled up, sleepy and at their tiniest. It's a guide, not a deadline - we'll pick a day once you're home and feeling ready, and your session will be beautiful at whatever stage your baby is in.

Should we book before our baby is born?

Yes, ideally during pregnancy. We'll reserve space around your due date and confirm the exact day after the birth, so in those first busy days there's nothing to arrange except a quick message to tell me your baby has arrived.

What's the difference between lifestyle newborn photography and a traditional studio session?

A traditional newborn session often relies on props, baskets and tightly wrapped poses. My lifestyle sessions are about your baby as they really are - awake or asleep, stretching, feeding and settling into your arms - with no buckets, baskets or elaborate posing. They can happen at home or in a studio; what changes is the approach, not the place.

What if our baby is awake, unsettled, or cries during the session?

That's completely normal, and it's part of the story. Awake expressions, stretches and the way your baby calms in your arms all become beautiful photographs. We follow their rhythm, pause whenever they need you, and carry on once they've settled.

How should we prepare our home, and does it need to look picture-perfect?

Not at all. We only need one or two spots with good window light - often a bedroom or the living room - so tidy those and leave the rest. Turn the heat up a little so your baby stays comfortable, and I'll take care of everything else when I arrive.

What should our baby wear, and what should we wear?

Simple is best. A plain onesie, a soft knit, or just a diaper and a blanket keep the focus on your baby. For parents, soft neutral tones and comfortable fabrics photograph beautifully next to newborn skin. Wardrobe guidance is included, so we'll plan it together before the day.

Can parents, siblings, and family pets be included?

Absolutely. Your session includes photographs of your baby alone and with parents, and siblings are welcome - I plan the order so younger children join while their energy is best. Family pets can be part of it too; just let me know who'll be there.

What happens if our baby arrives early or needs extra time in hospital?

Then we simply wait until you're home and ready. Because the session day is confirmed after the birth, an early arrival or a longer hospital stay doesn't change anything - send me a message when you're settled, and we'll choose a date that feels right.
