Vancouver Proposal Photographer

Ask the question - I'll keep the moment for you

A sunset walk on the seawall, a garden in bloom, a beach with the city across the water - wherever you plan to ask, I'll help with the spot and the timing, keep well hidden and capture every second of it.

  • Vancouver & Greater Vancouver
  • Surprise proposals, planned discreetly
  • 10+ years experience
  • Fully insured & licensed
  • Over 1,000+ sessions captured
  • Limited dates available
  • Planned down to the minute

We'll work out the place, the light, the crowds and the timing beforehand, so on the day you only need to think about the question.

  • Unseen until the yes

I'll be in position before you arrive and stay out of sight, so the surprise holds and the reaction is completely theirs.

  • The whole moment, not one frame

The approach, the question, the yes, the celebration - and photos of the two of you straight after.

The Experience

Your proposal, start to finish

  1. Share your idea

Where you'd like to ask, roughly when, and how you see it going. A rough idea is plenty to start with.

    Get in touch

    Step 1

  2. Plan it with me

We'll choose the spot and the time for good light and fewer people, and agree where I'll be, so nothing gives the surprise away.

    Step 2

  3. Ask - then celebrate

I'll photograph the proposal and the session after, then deliver your edited photos in a private online gallery.

    Step 3

Feedback from clients

Hi, I'm Natalie

Proposal photographer in Vancouver, waiting quietly for the yes

I love photographing surprise proposals. There's the planning - the place, the timing, the little details - then the wait out of sight, and then the moment the surprise lands and the emotion takes over.

No two reactions are alike, and the minutes after the yes are impossible to stage again. After more than 10 years and 1,000 sessions, I know how to stay unseen until then, and how to keep the photos after it easy and natural.

A few favourite spots to propose

A few favourites around Vancouver, chosen for the light, a little privacy and the view. When the yes turns into a date, my wedding photography in Vancouver is ready for the next chapter.

  • Lifestyle engagement photos, a couple shares a kiss on a lawn beside a bed of blue flowers, one in a floral maxi dress

    Queen Elizabeth Park

    Vancouver

Gardens in bloom and views over the city - lovely in spring and at sunset.

  • Creative engagement photos on a grassy lawn, a couple embraces under a pink magnolia tree in bloom

    Stanley Park

    Vancouver

Blossoms in spring, quiet forest paths and the seawall all year.

  • Creative engagement photos across the bay, a couple in long coats stands on waterfront rocks with a city skyline

    Spanish Banks

    Point Grey

The city skyline across the water, best as the sun goes down.

  • Creative couple photography, a couple with a small white dog in his arms stand on the stone steps of a grand neoclassical building beside a carved stone lion

    Downtown

    Vancouver

Old stone buildings and quiet side streets, glowing at dusk.

Somewhere else in mind? Anywhere in Greater Vancouver works - just tell me where.

Why photograph your proposal?

It's over in a moment, and you'll be too nervous to take in half of it. Someone who knows the plan sees everything you can't.

Couples photos on the beach, black-and-white photo of a woman hugging a man from behind on a windswept beach, her hair blowing across her face

To see it from the outside

You'll remember how it felt. The photographs show how it looked - their face as they understood, your hands, the place around you.

Because the timing and my spot are planned, you can forget the camera is there.

Candid engagement photos, a couple in a black blazer and a white top smile among cherry blossoms on a rooftop terrace, city buildings behind

To keep a reaction that only happens once

A surprise can't be repeated. The seconds after the question are some of the most honest photographs a couple will ever have.

I'll be ready for them, and for the laughter, the tears and the phone calls after.

To start the story you'll tell for years

Proposal photos often end up on engagement announcements, save-the-dates and wedding websites.

Both packages include time together straight after, while you're both still glowing.

Photo session FAQs

Where in Vancouver would you suggest proposing?

The best place is usually one that means something to the two of you. Queen Elizabeth Park has gardens and city views, Spanish Banks has the mountains across the water, and the seawall around Stanley Park has quiet corners at the right time of day. I'll help you pick the time when the light is soft and the paths are quiet.

How do we organize everything without my partner suspecting?

You can plan the whole thing in secret: texts, emails or a short call whenever you're on your own. Together we'll settle on the spot, the time and an everyday reason for the two of you to be there, so your partner suspects nothing until you ask.

Where will you be while I propose?

Close enough to catch every expression, but never in the way. Where it's peaceful, I'll be tucked behind a tree or a railing; where there are crowds, I'm just one more tourist taking photos of the view. We'll agree on my position and a small signal beforehand, so you'll know exactly where to look.

When is the light best for a proposal?

Late afternoon into sunset, when the light turns warm and kind to every face. Early mornings are lovely too, and popular spots are almost empty then. Sunset moves a lot through the year, so we'll set the time once the spot is chosen.

What if the weather or the crowds don't cooperate?

We'll have a second option ready in advance - a spare date, or somewhere covered nearby. And if your spot is busier than expected on the day, I'll have scouted a calmer corner close by and will let you know where.

Will we get photos of the two of us afterwards?

Yes - every package ends with portraits of you both, taken in the first happy minutes after the question. Choose Proposal Signature for a longer session of up to an hour and a half altogether, with time for a second outfit and another spot nearby.

How soon will I see the photos?

Proposal Signature includes a preview of a handful of favourites within two days. The whole collection follows within 10 business days in your own online gallery, ready to download, print and send to everyone waiting to hear.

How soon before the big day should I get in touch?

Give yourself a few weeks if you can - it leaves time to plan calmly, and the best evening slots in the warmer months are booked quickly. Decided this week? Message me anyway: a free evening is a free evening, and a quick plan can work beautifully.
